About

Housing Bank (HBTF) affirms its leadership in supporting the transition to a green economy by adopting innovative financing strategies that promote both environmental and economic sustainability.

HBTF offers a comprehensive suite of green financing programs in collaboration with prominent local and international partners, including the Central Bank of Jordan, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development.

These programs target SME, and corporate clients to enable them to implement sustainable projects in areas such as renewable energy, resource efficiency, and carbon emissions reduction. The benefits offered include subsidized and lower interest rates, cashback incentives, and flexible repayment terms.

To date, HBTF has extended JOD 95 million in facilities to corporate clients across these green financing programs.

HBTF signed an agreement with CRIF Information Technology Solutions to promote green financing through the synergy digital platform, which evaluates companies based on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria. This marks a pioneering step in encouraging businesses to adopt ESG standards simply and cost-effectively.

Benefits of ESG certification for businesses include meeting essential requirements for engaging with external entities especially in export activities; enhancing access to funding, partnerships, and new markets; assessing compliance with environmental and social standards: benchmarking sustainability performance against industry peers.

The bank continues to enhance its leading role through key partnerships. In 2025, HBTF signed a new financing agreement worth USD 75 million with the EBRD to support Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs), particularly in governorates outside the capital, aiming to enhance financial inclusion and stimulate local economic growth.

HBTF actively conducts numerous training sessions on awareness building for both clients and employees to promote awareness and understanding of sustainability and green financing.

The bank has also been the platinum sponsor of the 2025 Green Finance Forum, highlighting its role in advancing green finance and fostering sustainable economic practices.

HBTF is committed to advancing sustainable finance across its core banking activities, including assessing ESG risks within its lending and investment portfolios. A strategic project was launched in collaboration with the EBRD to build a forward-looking ESG roadmap and incorporate ESG principles into its risk management framework and strategic goals.

As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility, HBTF has implemented a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing energy efficiency across all its facilities. 
